CROSS COUNTRY SKIING

Cross Country Skiing is a great winter sport for all the family.

Lightweight, comfortable equipment with articulated bindings that leave the heel ‘free’ make it suitable for the young, old and anyone in between.

Two styles of Cross Country Skiing exist:-
Classic – The traditional Nordic style of skiing in prepared parallel tracks.  This is a lateral movement similar to walking or jogging.
Skating – A similar movement to that used in roller/ice skating.  The skier is propulsed forward by the rapid transfer of body weight from one ski to another.

For fitness enthusiasts cross country skiing is an excellent form of winter endurance training.  But at whatever pace or style you chose, cross country skiing provides a stimulating workout for the entire body.

Free from the bustle of crowds and ski lifts, it profilers an immense sensation of liberty and is a wonderful way of visiting any area.
Cross country skiing is also a low-impact sport and thus the risk of injury is much less than that incurred in down hill alpin skiing.

Nordic Ski Tourning
For intermediate skiers, Nordic ski-touring is the cross-country branch of off-piste!
Equipped with map, compass and special ‘fat’ skis go explore!

We offer full or half day private tuition, in the Chamonix valley and the surrounding alps.
